Quick and Easy Drop Biscuits Recipe

Quick & Easy Drop Biscuits Recipe: Soft and Buttery

Beginner-Friendly: Perfect for Busy Mornings and Freezer Meals

Who says mistakes can't be delicious? These soft, tender, buttery biscuits were born from a rushed morning when I added too much milk to a recipe I was testing. But what resulted was a delightful recipe that's perfect for busy mornings. These biscuits can be made ahead and frozen raw for a quick bake in the morning, or baked and frozen for an easy grab-and-go breakfast. Flatter than traditional biscuits, these treats still pack plenty of buttery flavor and are ideal for pairing with a dollop of butter and your favorite jam.

What's the difference between traditional biscuits and drop biscuits?

Traditional Biscuits go through the laminating process, which creates layers of butter and dough to create a flaky texture, and the laminated dough is cut into the desired shape. Drop biscuits do not go through the laminating process and have a bit more liquid, requiring the dough to be "dropped" by spoonfuls. Traditional biscuits form a dough and drop biscuits form a thicker "batter". Traditional biscuits are flaky and soft but drop biscuits are more dense but still soft.

     Can you freeze Drop Biscuits?

Yes! You can freeze-drop biscuits. I love to freeze them and it's very easy. You can freeze them raw or bake them, and then freeze them. If you freeze the biscuits raw, drop spoonfuls of the dough on a baking sheet and freeze. Once the dough is hard, place it in an air-tight container or bag and store it for up to three months. If you freeze biscuits cooked, allow them to cool completely and place them on a baking sheet until frozen. Once frozen, place the biscuits in an air-tight container or bag and store them for up to three months.

Why should I bake drop biscuits?

Easy to make- drop biscuits require minimal ingredients and no special technique, making them perfect for beginners or busy mornings and accessible to anyone who wants to bake.

Perfect for Postpartum Recovery- freezing drop biscuits make them convenient when you can't make a full meal.

Simple Ingredients- with just flour, sugar, salt, leavening agents, butter, and milk, you can whip up a batch of drop biscuits in no time.

Grab and go Breakfast- drop biscuits are perfect for a quick grab-and-go breakfast paired with your favorite jam and butter.
